About Us

The Colonel's Resort, nestled in the serene hamlet of Bir in Himachal Pradesh’s Kangra Valley, sits at 5,000 ft against the backdrop of the majestic Dhauladhars. Built on our ancestral tea estate—among the oldest in India—we created this retreat after my retirement from the army, carrying forward a 700-year family legacy in the region. Perfect for families, small groups, or solo travellers, the resort offers quiet escapes, Himalayan adventures, long-stay workations, and even a scenic venue for weddings or parties. Pet-friendly and vibrant with our dogs, horses, cows, and countless birds, it’s a place where you can truly feel at home in nature.

Our Accommodation

Our resort has one stand-alone cottage, eight deluxe rooms, two super deluxe rooms, two standard double rooms and two standard single rooms. We also offer the option of spacious deluxe tents.

Appreciation From Our Guests!

One of the most gorgeous properties u will find in Himachal! It was such a wholesome experience staying here, the hospitality is 10/10, the vibe is 10/10, the food is also 10/10.The lawns are massive, making them perfect to just sit and read a book or play with your kids. The Colonel and his family are always around and very warmly looking after all the guests. Their staff is so well-behaved you will have zero complaints staying here.The only downside is that lunch and dinner need to be booked/requested in advance. You won't get it just like that at the last minute. But that's only because they prepare everything fresh.Oh, and the mountain views from the property are killer!

Col Saab, his son Vikram and daughter in law Kamakshi were warm hosts, who cared personally for their guests. They were absolute troopers when we needed help with our pets and got into a bit of trouble during our adventures. They recommended experiences that we would cherish from our 3 days stay. Some of those were hidden gems! I highly recommend first timers to befriend the family and their staff, so that your stay is comfortable and fruitful

Colonel’s Resort is located near the highway. The property is well maintained and clean with a beautiful trees and green grasses. There are cabins with toilet, Deluxe rooms, hall, dinning hall and kitchen. A country lifestyle of two horses, cows, goats, poultry and two dogs adorn the property. The tea garden at the southern side of the resort adds the natural beauty. Many birds visit from early morning till late evening. The owner of the property is kind and gentle and treat the guests with love and respect. There are many interesting stories and wisdom which Colonel’s family will share with you if you come and spend your quality time in the resort. I personally experienced the amazing hospitality and nice time during my visit at the resort.

Excellent food and yummy desserts add to the charm of this place. The in house Tea factory is a must visit. I would highly recommend this place to stay.
